Compost Extraction and Application All In One Sprayer.

Compost Extraction and Application All In One Sprayer.

Tow and Fert makes it easy as:

1. Add Water
2. Add Compost
3. Apply Compost Extract

All in one sprayer!

Patent Pending

But How Does It Work?

Raw compost is tipped into the specially designed compost auger inside the Tow and Fert sprayer through the top hatch.

The onboard agitation wash beneficial microbes and fines (~5mm) into the water. Biology safe working pressure of 22psi - well under the mortality pressure threshold for living organisms.

The auger pulls solids and woodchips up through the water washing and moving the clean chip towards the ejection port.

The woodchip is ejected out the chute at the rear of the sprayer ready to go back to the compost pile.

The extract is sprayed onto soil, with a living microbe count of approx. 85% of the original material.

Compost extract made easy with Tow and Fert

With our newly developed and patent pending Compost Extraction Auger, building better soil and reducing reliance on synthetic fertiliser inputs is practical and economical. Farmers finally have a way to make those big environmental and soil optimising changes without dropping productivity or making life harder. It’s practical, it works, and it opens up a whole realm of opportunity.

The Tow and Fert Compost Extraction Auger allows the application of liquid extract at 1/10th the volume of traditional compost spreading (results vary based on quality of compost), covering more land with less effort and without blocking your booms.

The Tow and Fert Compost Extraction Auger uses water agitation, flow, and an auger to wash beneficial microbes from solid compost, removing wood chips and leaving farmers with a living liquid compost extract. This extract enables application rates at just 10% of traditional spreading, dramatically improving efficiency and sustainability. Expelled woodchips are pre-inoculated and can be returned to the compost pile.

Science-Backed Benefits

High-Efficiency Coverage: Treat over 100 hectares a day using microbe-rich liquid compost extract.

Maximize Microbial Activity: The washing technology ensures optimal extraction of beneficial microbial populations, supporting soil health and nutrient cycling.

Blockages are a thing of the past: Wood chips and large solids are removed by an auger, preventing sprayer blockages and residue build-up/settling.

Climate and Soil Impact: Enhance carbon sequestration and soil regeneration through increased microbial activity, aligning with peer-reviewed findings on compost and extract impacts.

Tow and Fert has had over a decade of experience working with agricultural inputs that would block traditional sprayers. The Tow and Fert’s on board agitation, patented boom re-circulation and compost auger make the commercial application of biological inputs, suspension products practical and economical for the every day farmer. The Metalform designed and manufactured stainless-steel trash pump is the heart of the operation which runs at a microbe friendly 22psi – much lower than the 40psi threshold where pressure starts to negatively impact larger volumes of living organisms.

Nick Padwick, experienced compost user and Soil Food Web consultant conducted preliminary testing of the compost going into the Tow and Fert and compared it to the liquid coming out of the Tow and Fert nozzles. Even though the compost had been through the mixer auger, the 3 inch stainless trash pump and our specially designed nozzles we still had 85% of the microbes present in the extract compared with the raw material.
Nick Padwick’s achieved the equivalent agronomic effect of 5,000 kg/ha of solid compost with only 500 kg of washed compost saving time, fuel, labour, and compost material – that’s a 90% saving!

This is a huge leap forward in bringing sustainable agriculture to every day farmers while making it commercially viable.
